Tough road for a gravel bike

The Rifugio Alpino Ragabo hotel is located on the Linguaglossa side of Etna. A very nice place, especially to refresh yourself after a long walk. Too bad about the excessive number of motorcyclists... including noise and exhaust fumes. https://www.ragabo.it/

The structure offers hospitality, catering and camping but also the possibility of renting bikes and horseback riding on Etna.

The area is kept in good condition and there is a barbecue area. If you need shelter I recommend using the old sheepfold which is located 50 meters towards the N. See photo. There is almost no connection.

To get to the refuge we recommend taking the detour from Mareneve via a 1.84 km path immersed in the pine forest. However, the route from Case Paternò Castello is absolutely not recommended due to gradients of around 20% and very sandy terrain. There is a well but not a fountain. Poor connection.

The Paternò houses are 1.25 km from Mareneve. On the site there is a barbecue area and a fountain at the back of the refuge but the water in the well is very putrid. The connection is decent.
