In the heart of the Hochwald forest lies the 270-hectare "Keller Mulde" nature reserve, characterized by its species-rich wet meadows, fen forests, and valuable habitats. Numerous rare animal and plant species find refuge here – from butterflies and meadow birds to meadow clover and knotweed. 🪶 Tip: If you really want to experience nature, you should consciously walk slowly here. Between dragonflies, buzzing insects, and gentle meadow waves, every break feels special – a quiet gem of the region.

On the shore of the lake, you'll find several large information panels offering fascinating insights into the region. From local wildlife to conservation projects and the history of the lake – knowledge is presented vividly here. The panels tell stories about the Ruwer Gevaser Project, rare butterflies, fish species in the lake, and the harmony between tourism and nature. Local peculiarities such as the otter and wildcat are also discussed. 💡 Tip: Ideal for a short break with added value. If you take your time, you'll discover the surroundings with completely new eyes.

Unfortunately, the path and the area around the hut have been destroyed by the deforestation vehicles. Good footwear is required.

Reservoir, which can be comfortably walked around on wide paths (also suitable for strollers), beautiful views along the route included as well as the opportunity to stop off at Hau's am See (it is particularly nice on the terrace directly on the lake) and pedal boat rental included.
