Numerous mills were powered by the water of the Warme Steinach. The Fulling Mill in the Laineck district of Bayreuth was built before 1728 as a marble mill and is still in operation as a gristmill. Small, privately operated hydroelectric power plants exist in Mittlernhammer near Sophienthal and at the Döhlauer Graben in Friedrichsthal. The small stream flows over the bare rock here. The humus layer has been completely removed. The water cascades down almost like a waterfall. Circular hiking trail 2 from Sophiental leads past here. You can take a detour from circular hiking trail 5.

We came to Grassemannsbachtal quite by accident and were totally surprised. the stream flows hidden in the forest and over stones. Nice and cool in today's heat. Very romantic!! Worth the effort to seek out the small trail.
