In 1978 Dr. Martin Wolfer the already badly neglected building. Together with his wife he restored and revitalized the castle. It still serves as the family's summer home today. In 1576 the castle was already known as the "desolate Veste Gillingberg". A year later it came to Anna von Mollart. Around 1590 her son Jakob Freiherr von Mollart had the castle, which still exists today, built in the Renaissance style below the castle ruins. In the 17th century it was changed to Baroque style. It was destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century but was soon rebuilt. In the period after World War II, it was badly neglected. Renovation work began in 1980.
