Lanzendorf Castle is located in the municipality of Lanzendorf, cadastral municipality of Oberlanzendorf in the Vienna Basin, Lower Austria, about four kilometers south-east of the Vienna city limits. It stands in the south of the village next to the thoroughfare. In its turbulent history, the castle has been rebuilt several times. It is now a block-like, three-storey building over an L-shaped floor plan. The street front is kept simple with seven irregular window axes and corners with decorative ashlars. In the middle of the hipped roof sits a square turret covered with a pointed tin helmet. It probably comes from the reconstruction in 1758. The courtyard front has windows with profiled walls and straight roofing, which are largely covered by extensions. On the side of the large park there is a two-storey loggia, the columns of which support a flat ceiling on the ground floor and a wicker vault on the upper floor. This addition is relatively new. To the south, there is also a two-storey porch with a grooved ground floor. The high, round-arched French windows on the upper floor are separated by double pilasters. Behind it is the former ballroom. A chapel was built on the upper floor of this wing around 1830. The extensions on the courtyard side also date from this year. In place of a roof, this porch supports a roof terrace bordered by a stone balustrade. On the side of the street there is a tower-like roof house. An outbuilding is connected to the main building by a flat-roofed colonnade. This and other, mostly two-storey buildings were built at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century as administration and care buildings. The former defensive wall still surrounds parts of them today. The formerly large dairy farm on the other side of the street was demolished in 1998, only the stables remained.

Around 1170, Lanzendorf Castle was owned by the Asparn-Maleisdorf family, who were later replaced by the Schönberg family. The Caritas of the Archdiocese of Vienna took over the property in 1948 and set up a care center for people of all ages in it. Since then she has restored the castle, erected new buildings and adapted existing objects for the kitchen, workshop, storage and laundry room. As part of the restoration of the castle, which is now called Haus Franziska, a staircase made of exposed concrete was built to commemorate the victims of the Nazi regime. Is privately owned by Sigi Wolf, who, like the Fontana, bought it from Frank Stronach in 2014. Therefore unfortunately not to visit. Story: Before the middle of the 13th century, the castle was owned by the Lords of Eckartsau, then by the Ebersdorfer, the Counts of St. Georgen and Bösing, Liechtenstein-Nikolsburg, and in 1556 it went to Dr. Johann Baptist Pacheleb and his Protestant son Carl, 1628 to Hoyos. 1672 to Heußenstein where probably the first conversion took place. In 1732 the castle went to the Heiligenkreuz Abbey. The second conversion from 1715 to 1770 shows today's castle. In 1767 the palace went to Maria Anna, Countess of Schulenburg-Oeynhausen, in 1806 to the Counts of Trauttmannsdorff and in 1898 to Prince Solms-Braunfels. In 1945 the castle was badly damaged and was rebuilt in the 1980s.

The Franzensburg is regarded as the culmination of the artistic garden design of the so-called "Rittergau" in the Laxenburg Palace Park. It bears witness to the idea of romantic historicism and is considered "Austria's little treasure trove". By Emperor Franz II./I. erected and opened in 1801, historically valuable components were put together to form a neo-Gothic work of art. More than twenty showrooms were created inside the Franzensburg, decorated with the most valuable inventory of all eras. The rooms still contain valuable art objects such as inlaid cabinets, leather wallpaper and coffered ceilings from the Renaissance era. Emperor Franz I, who also gave the castle its name, designed an ideal knight's castle according to his personal ideas. However, the Franzensburg was never inhabited, since its opening it has served as a museum and a reflection of times long past. Today the museum is open to everyone and invites you to an exciting excursion into the fantasy world of the Habsburg dynasty.

The chapel in the Old Castle in Laxenburg was first mentioned in a document in 1332. According to this documentary mention, the castle chapel is the oldest church in Laxenburg. The chapel was redesigned in baroque style in 1755. A bricked-up Gothic window in a rectangular tracery frame from the second half of the 15th century can be seen on the courtyard front. The original ashlar masonry was uncovered in 1982.
