Hi9er is only accessible by longtail boat. The beautifully situated resort has a restaurant, accommodation in simple huts (no private toilet), and serves as a base for canoe trips. If you're lucky, you can go on an elephant safari and observe wild elephants on the riverbank from your canoe.

not sure if it's an official campsite..the one I'd planned to stay in is closed for the season (Mecamp) but I paid 150bhat and have access to the shower and small restaurant

This is a very decent and clean campground complete with toilets, cold shower, shelter huts and platform (including some double storey), power socket and next to the beach. The beach is also very shallow. When I arrived on a Monday, there was nobody on site and I wrote to their FB page. U can go ahead and set up first. Cost THB150 during my stay. There is also not one but two 7-11 within 300-500m from ground 😂

The road sections are tedious, and there is litter along most of the dirt roads, but the path through the jungle is pretty good 👍

Costs 100 That but you get a free soft drink and somewhere to sit and admire the beautiful view

Whenever a hut inhabited by dogs opens up after adventurous concrete paths and sandy streets, then you come close to a vantage point. You often pay 50 baht (1.50€) at the entrance or then at the top - like at the Mango Viewpoint. 100 baht is required there. In return, a magnificent view along the main coast (90% of the residents there), a bottle of water or a soft drink and a portion of bananas freshly cut from the tree by the chef. Delicious. And then gives a boss a brush and a can of paint to immortalize himself with his name in Hütte. You can even eat up there, which I didn't use though.

You cannot lay only on the beach, koh tao has a wonderful outback too. Starting from the main street of koh tao you will need about an hour to reach the viewpoint. It will be very hot, so don't forget to take some water, you will also have two opportunities to buy some on the way. Enjoy the great view!
