The Cöthen Park is based on an idea by Carl Friedrich von Jena. Following his instructions, the gorge, now wooded with enormous beech trees, through which the Cöthen stream meanders towards Falkenberg, was transformed into a landscape park in the 1820s. Remnants of the park, consisting of an old waterwheel and a waterfall, can be found in the source area of the picturesque stream. A fantastic area... highly recommended.

The small waterfall is located in Cöthener Park. The park, located between Cöthen and Falkenberg, is based on an idea by Carl Friedrich von Jena. According to his instructions, this beautiful piece of nature and the gorge, which is now forested with huge beech trees and through which the Cöthener Fließ winds its way to Falkenberg, was turned into a landscape park in the 1920s. The small reservoir and the waterfall were merely design elements; for example, there was no watermill or anything like that. In his hikes, Theodor Fontane described the park as somewhat “Old Franconian” because of its playfulness, but quite “peculiar” in nature. When it's really hot and the sun is shining, the sun's rays and haze give the place a mysterious and mystical flair. Great for photos

One of many nice trails in the area. As already described, it is best to approach from the Paschenberg Panorama Restaurant. There are one or two bottlenecks caused by fallen trees on the route, but these can easily be bypassed.

There is a small reservoir in front of the waterfall. Here some people had climbed into the water. Judging by their sounds, it seemed very cold even in midsummer.
