Way in the distance, on a clear day, you can see the snowcapped peak of Mount Jefferson rising on the horizon.

Barrett Spur is a prominent knob on the east side of Mount Hood. The trail is both challenging and beautiful, adorned with wildflowers and incredible views. If you're up for the scramble, this trail is the best way to get relatively close to the summit of Mount Hood without climbing the mountain altogether. The highpoint spot is the best viewpoint, with stunning views of Bald Mountain, Mount Rainier and Mount Adams, just below the final scramble to the summit. It is the turnaround point for most and is the best place to stop and capture some incredible photos.

A few trails converge near the summit of Lookout Mountain, including the High Prairie Trail, which is the most popular path for accessing the summit and viewpoint on the mountain. You get a head-on view of Mount Hood from the top and will likely share that view with some others.

Chinidere Mountain is marked by a rocky platform jutting out towards Mount Hood. You can see a lot of the valley and lower foothills from the top of this 4,674-foot peak. The lower trails are also great places for viewing the wilderness of the Cascades.

It's 70 km all uphill. There's hardly any traffic. Its hard. But it's damn cool to always drive around this mighty and wonderful mountain!

Beautiful summit to enjoy views of Mt. Hood and Barlow Butte. It is a perfect spot to stop for lunch and take some photos. In the summer, sulfur buckwheat, heartleaf buckwheat and little sunflower are in bloom. During the fall, larches change color for a picturesque landscape.
