Just below the summit the trees open up, and you get a panoramic view south over Philomath and the mountains by Corvallis Watershed.

Besides being a killer uphill workout, the Black Butte summit offers incredible views to the surrounding mountains and meadows in the region. The historic lookout was built in 1923, though it was not tall enough for proper fire spotting and was supplemented with a crow's nest tower. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Mt Adams in southwest Washington.

Mount Tabor in Portland is an extinct volcanic cider cone that has been turned into a city park. It stands as a prominent natural landmark in the city and offers a variety of recreational activities like hiking and biking.

Dimple Hill provides breathtaking views of the valley, Marys Peak, Mt. Hood, and Three Fingered Jack in the distance. You'll find a comfortable picnic bench where you can pause and fully absorb the beauty of your surroundings.

The pain of the climb is worth the gain - epic views of the Smith Rock basin and the Cascade Mountains in the distance. Once you are on the top, you'll have easy access to Monkey Face - a gorgeous column of rock that often has climbers hanging from its precipices.

Broken Hand is a rugged volcanic formation east of Broken Top. You can scramble to the top for great views of the Three Sisters, Mount Bachelor, Broken Top and towards the city of Bend. You can access Broken Hand either from the Broken Top Trail or via Tam McArthur Rim. There is a rough trail leading to the top or moderate one further down. To hike in this area between June 15 and October 15, you need to obtain a permit for the Central Cascades Wilderness here: recreation.gov/ticket/300009/ticket/2000.

Gazing over the Crooked River and its remarkable volcanic rock formations, Smith Rock's flagship trail is nothing short of extraordinary. The view is simply splendid, making it the ideal locale for a memorable keepsake photograph.
