Praia do Pintadinho is a small, quiet beach near Burgau in the Algarve. It's situated in a sheltered bay surrounded by rocky cliffs, making the water often calm and clear. The beach is less crowded than the larger beaches in the area, perfect for those who enjoy peace and quiet and nature.

Direct access is possible via the mapped T4 trail—less difficult than expected. The beach is often deserted, but this is permitted in good conditions. As a bonus, you can also continue along the beach and take the adventurous alternative route uphill through a stream bed (mapped black trail at the end of the beach) instead of the more extensive Rota Vicentina trail. We took this uphill route 👍

On the beach at Praia do Pintadinho, on the side facing away from the lighthouse (Farol da Ponta do Altar), there is a cave with a double opening that can be reached directly via the beach. There is a warning sign about falling rocks...so be careful!

Sturdy shoes are an advantage, there are wooden footbridges but sometimes there are rocks. Hiking trails are signposted.

The rock restaurant Canico is hidden. You have to know that "back there" is still something special. At this point, a narrow rock passage leads across the sandy beach. After that you have two options: around the rocks through the water or through a small rock tunnel. is really adventurous, but really "safe".

In July 2022, Lagos Council announced a new series of renovations at Ponta da Piedade, involving rearranging the road and parking. The final stretch of the Ponta da Piedade road is now only open to vehicles serving the lighthouse or emergency services, bicycles and pedestrians. The existing car park was replaced by two new parking areas further away from the lighthouse.
