An atmospheric shelter/rest hut. In good weather, take advantage of the outdoor benches around a fireplace. Next to the hut a small stream flows providing a water source. There is also an emergency telephone in the hut.

In the direction of Görälven, about 100m from the hut, there is a small pool with clear but slightly reddish, iron-rich water. There are even a few wooden planks leading to it, but you have to be careful as some of them are wobbly. Boiling water is OK in an emergency and I boiled it in peace and sheltered from the wind in the well-maintained Lilldalsstuga and had no problems. Otherwise, on the Södra Kungsleden, fresh water is only available again shortly before the start of the Fulufjället national park and at Granfjällssätern. In between? I would only drink water from the Görälv if it was boiled or filtered.

A big hut right by the river in the national park Fulufjället. There is a big main room, a kitchen and four bed rooms with 8 beds in total. You can also pitch your tent on the big meadow outside the hut. Staying here overnight costs 200 SEK (in June 2023).

A big hut with great views over the surrounding valleys. Staying overnight is not allowed, but you can easily pitch a tent nearby. There are no good water sources in this area.

Beginning and end point of the Grönna Bandet

The Valdalsbygget Trail, approximately 14 km long, passes this former dairy. It's a lovely rest area. The old Valdalsbygget mountain farm is located right on the Norwegian border. In the 1830s, the Norwegian Per Perssen Lillebo and his wife Dordi moved here.

Here the Southern Kungsleden has halftime. A large modern mountain station with food and equipment sales. Very good bus connections even to Stockholm in summer.
