Châtillon-sur-Indre is a village of 3,000 inhabitants which dates from around the 9th century. Its rich heritage consists of a castle built in the 13th century, the César Tower, built around 1130 and the Notre-Dame church.

The Château de Montrésor overlooks the village of Montrésor, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France. It was bought by a Polish immigrant, Count Branicki who settled there in 1849 to flee Russia and the ukase of Tsar Nicolas I and still remains in the Branicki family today.

The Royal City consists of a keep and the royal residence. Built from the 11th to the 16th century on a rocky promontory, these monuments are surrounded by a wall. Visits are possible all year round and include the keep, the royal residence, the park and the underground.
