The usual way is to take a taxi to Los Brecitos from the parking lot on the road from Los Llanos. From there you can easily walk downhill into the caldera and then through the Barranco de Angustias back to the parking lot. A very nice hike, especially in the first half, because you hike parallel to the cliffs, which rise up to 1500 m, through a grandiose nature. I found the way back through the Barranco rather boring because you hike on rocky terrain in the ode next to the Barranco. This is tedious and takes time. So start early and have at least one flashlight with you. And a no-go area in rainy weather because the Barranco can flood quickly

Friends say that the caldera is even more beautiful in summer. But this high rock basin with its impressive rocks is also an impressive place in winter.

One of the biggest tourist attractions of the Caldera de Taburiente national park, which, however, became so accidentally, since initially it was just a dam to contain the waters of the Caldera. But the iron colored its walls and together with the numerous algae that also cover them, gave rise to this very special place.

The Caldera de Taburiente acts as a funnel collecting water and directing it towards the Barranco de las Angustias. At the beginning of the 20th century, this canal was built to make better use of the water and direct its course. Although this action was left out of the National Park, there were subsequent interventions that negatively influence the environment and whose impact is being worked to minimize.

This natural space, at the foot of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, is formed after the union of the two permanent streams that emerge from the caldera. It is a magnificent place and a stopping point for numerous routes in the area. Despite carrying water almost always, it is advisable to carry water in your backpack, since it is not suitable for consumption and it usually gets a lot of sun. It is also important to wear appropriate footwear because the terrain is steep.
