Last section is unpaved but can be climbed easily with a road bike.

From here you can contemplate the eastern Penedes valley with the witness of the Montserrat mountains in the background. Take a breath and go down the trail to the medieval town of Torre Ramona (Subirats).

Sant Martí Sarroca is a municipality in the Alt Penedès region. As is typical of this region, the town is surrounded by extensive vineyards and rolling hills. On the outskirts of the urban area, the monumental complex of Sa Roca stands out, where a medieval castle and hermitage are preserved.

Beautiful castle that is located at the top of one of the hills. Its ancient towers are still preserved in good condition!

Turó de la Roca has historically been a prominent point in the municipality of Sant Martí Sarroca. Although the first references are from the 10th century, when it served as a surveillance and protection point, there are indications of previous Iberian and Roman settlements. The monumental complex is made up of the Romanesque church of Santa María, restored in 1906, and the castle of Sant Martí, built in the 11th century.

The remains of this fortification date from the 10th century, when the municipality was created, and it has been the protagonist of various historical episodes: its destruction in 1003 after a Saracen attack, the siege in the 15th century during the Catalan civil war, or in the 15th century. XVII, during the Guerra dels Segadors, in which the French troops defeated the Castilians in this same place. It was from this fact that a process of plunder began that lasted for centuries. The rectangular tower of the castle is not preserved and only some walls remain.

The castle of Gelida stands on a cliff part of the Sierra de Ordal, next to the town of Gelida. It is a construction from the 10th century and is now in a state of semi-ruin. Part of a tower, several hundred and a pre-Romanesque church have been preserved.
