The Cacín River flows through the valley of the municipality of Arenas del Rey and empties into the Genil River, forming part of the Guadalquivir basin. It has a total length of approximately 50 km, of which roughly 33 km run from the Los Bermejales reservoir to its confluence. Its valley combines terraces of Quaternary sediments (conglomerates, sands, clays) and an impressive canyon carved through soft materials.

The most difficult part is from Nerja to the entrance to the path. Otherwise a very nice course, path of small stones, with concrete parts, the difference in altitude of 600 with my Garmin, it is not violent, largely doable if you have a small sporting level… Very nice to do… To do again by speeding up a little…

In this part of the river there is already constant water and, from time to time, small waterfalls appear. Going up the stones be especially careful, they can slip. It is recommended to have special shoes for water, or hiking boots that you can get wet, as you cannot avoid going through the water.
