The extensive municipality of Luster offers a diverse landscape and nature. Within the municipality's borders are some of Norway's highest mountain peaks with a harsh high mountain climate, but also beautiful towns with a mild fjord climate and large parts of the Jostedalsbreen and Jotunheimen national parks. Most towns have accommodation and shops. In the central town of Gaupne, there are numerous shops as well as banks, doctors, the police and the municipal administration.

From here you have a great view of the fjord.

Fantastic walking environment with well-maintained paths. A little climb here and there, but doable.

In the southwest of Norway, the famous Sognefjord stretches from the coast, about 80 kilometers north of Bergen, over 204 kilometers in length and far inland. The longest and at 1,308 meters deepest fjord in Norway branches out into many side arms, for example into the Lustrafjord, the Aurlandsfjord or the Nærøyfjord. The Lustrafjord, also called Lusterfjord, is 42 km long and named after the town of Luster in the province of Vestland. The towns of Luster and Gaupne are on the west side of the Lustrafjord.

Beautiful surroundings, located directly on the turquoise blue lake Bygdin. Really great hiking environment. The hut can also be reached by bus. Straightforward people operating the cabin. The dorm is divided into private bunks and the concept is really great for the dorm size!

We walked up to the top of the hill with just sun and 32 degrees. We had to stop several times because some parts of the trail are really steep and with a lot of small stones. You should be well trained to make it within 3 hours.
