Møysalen is the highest point in the Lofoten and Vesterålen islands. It rises to an altitude of 1,262 meters. This location and its natural setting led to the creation of a national park named after it in 2003. The summit is particularly recognizable with its flat top.

From the top of Elgen you have a magnificent view of Andfjorden, Andøya, Grøtøya and Toppsundet.

In early summer you are completely alone here. If there is still a lot of snow, the tour is quite strenuous because of the tracks.

Wenn you start your ascent from the plateau, you won't find a path. But you will spot a red mark, when you look in the direction of the peak. After you reached this waymark by walking over the slightly swampy plain, another mark appears – and so on. The terrain is getting steeper and rocky soon – you might need your hands from time to time – but the actual challenge is to spot the next waymark, since segments where you can see a path are thin on the ground.
