The approach to Hatten is nicely atmospheric and provides fine views of your objective ahead. There are plenty of places to take and breather and enjoy a snack.

This Statskog Hytte can easily be rented on the organization's website, for one to several nights. The hut does not have running water; you get it from the stream next to it. An outhouse belongs to the cabin and the bathroom is in the beautiful lake. The cabin seems renovated, the kitchen is equipped with everything imaginable, and the bedrooms are small but can be darkened (important in summer!). Very quiet location! Caution: Transmitting the code for the door lock does not always work automatically. It is advisable to ask for the code a few days before arrival (office hours are limited, especially during the holiday season).

Everything you need for an overnight stay is here. A toilet with running water. A bathing place. A small hut with a table & benches and a fireplace as well as the necessary firewood. Perfect for an overnighter!

Stekenjokk with its surroundings of a barren, often storm-tossed high plateau is a great hiking area, which can only be found in this form much further north. The pass road (note the closures in autumn and spring!) there leads past a large area that is an excellent starting point. Unfortunately, in recent years, a large number of mobile homes/campers have also been permanently parked "on the move". Nevertheless, tours from here are very worthwhile, e.g. on and around the Stihke as the highest elevation. Accompanied by dogs, always keep them very close to you, better still on a leash. The local Sami, who own reindeer herds, understandably don't see much fun when their animals are scared away. That would really cause trouble... Oh yes, don't forget sturdy shoes!
