Easy, yes. Family-friendly, no. Strollers aren't suitable because of the often thick rocks in the forest floor and unpaved paths. No benches. Beautiful, yes, but hiking boots are necessary, and grandma has to stay home. Therefore, calling the trail family-friendly is misleading.

Beautiful peaceful little lake

Lake Bovigny is a great place for a family hike, as it offers a flat, easy trail around the lake, with benches and picnic tables along the way. You can admire views of the water, forest and hills, and perhaps spot ducks, geese or swans. Lake Bovigny in Vielsalm is a peaceful and relaxing place to spend a few hours in nature.

The Nisramont dam complex was built in 1958. The intention was actually to create a much larger lake with a dam at the Celtic site of Le Cheslé. Not coincidentally there, because as we will notice during the next stage on the Escapardenne Eislek Trail, the Ourthe is strongly incised here and it is therefore technically ideal to dam even further downstream from that deep incision. The storage capacity is expected to be up to 250 million m³. The current Nisramont dam was therefore built as a temporary project, but more than 50 years later it is still standing.
