The Castello Sforcesco in Vigevano is a former residence and an extensive fortification of the House of Sforza. The Sforza dynasty ruled Lombardy as dukes of Milan during the Renaissance. Vigevano, located near Milan, was popular with the dukes and so the existing castle was expanded into an actual ducal seat
