"The refuge was built in 1933 and completely renovated in 1989. It is named after the Trieste mountaineer and speleologist Mario Premuda, who died in 1931 in an accident on the Picco di Mezzodi in the Julian Alps. The hut also houses the climbing school named after the Trieste mountaineer Emilio Comici. Beautiful lake with benches and tables nearby, ideal for catching your breath and regaining your energy before climbing Veliki Gardisce.

It's a shame it's closed, it was a meeting place, a point of reference!

The Koča na Kokoši refuge (670 m) is a former border house on Jirmanec, a promontory overlooking the town of Lipica and from which you can enjoy a fair view of the Carnic and Julian Alps. The refuge takes its name from the nearby Mount Kokoš, just a few minutes away. In the surroundings it is possible to admire two boundary stones that testify to the feudal division of the time. A popular destination for Italians and Slovenians, the refuge is open all year round on weekends.
