An ancient village once owned by the Aldobrandeschi family and then by Siena, it still bears the marks of the past rulers: the keep, the surrounding walls, and the evocative arched gateway are well preserved. The medieval features of the church of San Sebastiano, renovated in the 18th century, are still evident. Coming to today, I recommend a refreshing stop, perhaps for an aperitif, at Barrino di Tatti, just outside the medieval village. The food is excellent, while from the terrace and dining room, we gaze across the Maremma to the sea.

Beautiful medieval village. Worth a visit.

Tatti is a small medieval village a few kilometers from Massa Marittima, in the province of Grosseto in Tuscany. The village is on a hill. The green hills of Maremma welcome visitors looking for peace and quiet. The center still retains its original appearance: the city center is surrounded by a 9th century wall and is dominated by the Aldobrandesco Castle. Visitors enter the village through an arch surmounted by three corbels and reach the castle, which is marked by the tower. From the courtyard of the castle you can walk through the streets.

The castle of Fosini is located on a high hill, immersed in the woods of the Cornate Nature Reserve.

The fortress was built in medieval times as the property of the Aldobrandeschi family, who kept it until the first half of the fourteenth century. Subsequently the Sienese transformed the castle into a village. During the 15th century the site was already in ruins, today only a few ruins are visible.

Be sure to go up to the palazzo

A short detour to the "castle" is worthwhile. Nice and quiet location.
