Very beautiful gorge, which you can also take a quick stop in. "Four Fists for a Hallelujah", or more precisely the bean soup scene, was filmed there and you can take some funny photos. You can park at various entrances. The gorge itself is narrower than the film spot.

The Vasto Valley has numerous points of interest such as the ruins of Santa Maria della Croce, the Grotta a Male (a natural cavity that was inhabited since the Neolithic), the church of San Clemente and the church of San Pietro della Ienca.

Val Maone is one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in the Gran Sasso massif. There are waterfalls, vast alpine meadows and jagged peaks: a marvel!

Since the route is constantly changing due to the snowmelt and meltwater, it is best to start at the car park near the small Colle Rustico pass behind the ceramic village of Castelli. Take the forest path at the picnic area and always follow the yellow-red markings to the end of the path. But be careful: when the snow melts, crossing the cirque, which has to be done several times, is very dangerous!!!

There are endless words to describe this magical place. The most suitable is perhaps FANTASTIC... Crossing this canyon in silence, alone or with friends, is one of the things that will remain etched in the mind and heart ❤
