It is also an important stop on the Via Francigena, one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in Europe that runs from Canterbury to Rome.

On the western shore of the ancient Lake Bracciano stands Bracciano, a village enriched by a history that dates back to the 11th century. Initially owned by the Prefects of Vico, in the 15th century it passed to the Orsinis, who transformed the pre-existing fortress into the majestic Orsini Odescalchi Castle, completed in 1481 by Napoleone Orsini. In 1696, the castle became the property of the Odescalchis. Today, the castle is open to the public and offers guided tours to discover its fascinating architectural details and the traditions of the time.
