On the western shore of the ancient Lake Bracciano stands Bracciano, a village enriched by a history that dates back to the 11th century. Initially owned by the Prefects of Vico, in the 15th century it passed to the Orsinis, who transformed the pre-existing fortress into the majestic Orsini Odescalchi Castle, completed in 1481 by Napoleone Orsini. In 1696, the castle became the property of the Odescalchis. Today, the castle is open to the public and offers guided tours to discover its fascinating architectural details and the traditions of the time.

Unfortunately, the inner workings of the old castle ruin are due to Danger of collapse blocked, but the entire area is so impressive that you can easily live with this small handicap. Wonderful views in all directions. Highly recommended🤩🤩

Getting to Tolfa by bike is always a conquest, whether you go up from the sea side or go up from Manziana. On clear days, the view from the square is worth all the effort made to get there. The ancient Rocca dei Frangipane is definitely worth a visit.
