The small swamp lake lies at an altitude of 2,010 meters. In April and May a sea of cotton grass blooms here. The Central Alpine Trail, among other things, runs past the lake.

The Essersee is a beautiful small mountain lake in Lungau (Salzburger Land) at an altitude of 2088 meters. It can be reached from Riedingtal. On one lap you can also hike past other mountain lakes, e.g. the Zaunersee and the Schlierersee.
