Vast lake scenery and sumptuous woodland, this section of trail is classic Finland. It's a part of the Päijätsalo Circle Trail that loops around the central viewpoint. If you're feeling fit, you could always add the high point to your run.

The bridges over Lake Päijänne in the Pulkkilanharju area offer stunning lake views and are part of a popular cycling and driving route between Lahti and Jyväskylä. The arched Käkisalmi bridge, built in 1940, and the later Karinsalmi suspension bridge replaced old ferry connections and now make the narrow ridges of Pulkkilanharju easy to cross. The area is known for its clear waters and island-dotted views, especially along the Pulkkilanharju nature trail. The route is perfect for cyclists with trekking or cross bikes, though expect occasional traffic and be cautious on the narrow road sections.

The beautifully designed trailhead of the ridge trail creates anticipation. A café and a rest area are next door.

40 minutes ferry connection between Karisalmi bridge and here. Connections from Padasjoki are available, too. The sandy beach here is allright for swimming but maybe a bit crowded with boats. Located at the scenic water front in a shaded forest, take a break at the wooden benches or spend some more time at the fire pit. There is lots of wood in the nearby hut for you to saw. You will also find a pit toilet and a small jetty.
