Source of the Ahlebach stream. A beautiful place to rest. The hut is very inviting. Stamp station no. 30 of the "Wilde Heimat" stamp booklet of the Solling-Vogler region is located right next to the hut.

At the forest car park between Lauenberg and Fredelsloh there are always two charcoal kilns smoking where you can experience the old tradition of Solling live. The four charcoal burners Rolf and Peter Hüholt, Werner Grewe and Walter Gehrke from Lauenberg stack around 80 cubic meters of beech wood into two kilns at the coal yard near the charcoal hut and produce charcoal in the traditional way. The two piles are sealed all around with oat straw and earth. Inside, in the absence of air and at a temperature of around 280 degrees Celsius, the logs slowly char into charcoal. The four charcoal burners are prepared for guests who would like to experience the charcoal burners at work: there will be grilled food. In 2017 the fate of the hut, beautifully situated above Vahle, stood. The state foresters gave up the hut - it was threatened with demolition. A group led by the mayor of Vahl stepped in and has been taking care of and managing the hut ever since.
