The brand new lake (2014) has a capacity of 23 million cubic metres and is expected to become one of the most important wetlands in the south-east Mediterranean; there is a nice cafe.

From Retymno with a simple rental bike on asphalt roads with little traffic but partly in poor condition through beautiful landscapes around the reservoir. Very friendly residents in the villages and restaurants, but unfortunately plastic bags and bottles everywhere on the roadside.

Nice tour as soon as you are under the main road. An absolute calm except for goats and the sound of the wind. You should have a good condition especially we flatlands, feeling it was always only mountain. As a reward but a Wannsinn prospect. There are enough taverns on the route. From the lake you also have a nice view.
