The three lakes, the Flögelner, Halemer and Dahlemer See, which together with the Bederkesaer See four kilometers away form the "Four Lakes Plate", are the main attraction .-Pauli Church are other worthwhile destinations for visitors.

The Flögelner See is an approximately 1.55 square kilometer (= 155 hectare) moor lake near the village of Flögeln north of the moor spa Bad Bederkesa in the north of Lower Saxony. There are water connections to Halemer and to Dahlemer See, which are under nature protection. The lake borders extensive moor areas in the northeast. The very flat north-west bank tends to silt up. In contrast, in the southeast of the lake there is a partly bizarrely hollowed out steep bank on a geest slope. There is a small island in the lake where you can see the remains of a medieval moated castle. Numerous species of birds nest at the lake and whooper swans come from Northern Europe and Russia in winter. The southern lake outflow leads over the floodplain to the Hadelner Canal, which is part of the Elbe-Weser shipping route. The lake drains are not navigable and not even suitable for paddlers because they are very overgrown. The lake is popular as a fishing area because it is rich in eel, perch, bream, pike, carp, rudd, roach, tench, whitefish and pikeperch.

The entrance is a bit hidden. When I got here there wasn't a soul to be seen and you could relax wonderfully and let your legs hang down from the jetty. The view of the calm lake was very calming.
