It stands on a small hill in a wooded area east of the southern tip of Lake Vierer See, about three kilometers southeast of Plön. The site belongs to Waldshagen, a district of the municipality of Bösdorf in the Plön district. The tower, erected by the then owner of the Waldshagen estate in honor of Otto von Bismarck, was inaugurated on July 29, 1913. It was designed by Albert Klücher and architect Waldvogel, both based in Eutin.
