The forest path is partly gravelly and has large sand potholes. Not suitable for thin tires.

Lake Suhr is a lake in the town of Plön in Schleswig-Holstein, east of Bundesstraße 76 and south of Lake Behler. It is located in Holstein Switzerland, surrounded by a hilly moraine landscape, and is part of the Suhrer See and Surrounding Area Nature Reserve.

The lake, with its distinctive underwater vegetation, is a habitat for numerous animal species that are adapted to the nutrient-poor conditions. Due to the clear water, extensive underwater grasslands have developed to a depth of over five meters. In addition to various, sometimes very rare pondweeds and stonecrop algae, the greater mermaid weed can also be found here, which is only found in a few lakes in Schleswig-Holstein. The nature reserve has a good network of hiking trails with several viewing points and can be circumnavigated on foot or by bike.

Lake Suhr is a feeding, resting and moulting area of supra-regional importance for water birds that need peace and are sensitive to disturbance, particularly tufted ducks, pochards, goldeneyes and red-crested scoters. The ducks, which are sensitive to disturbance, benefit from the ban on boats of all kinds on the lake. The state forest bordering to the east is a breeding ground for the honey buzzard, kingfisher, red-breasted flycatcher, black woodpecker and middle spotted woodpecker, among others. The slope beech forest has been taken out of use as a natural forest. The forest areas to the north-west of the lake, a former military training area, are being developed by the Nature Conservation Foundation into natural forest communities.

The nature reserve serves to secure, protect, preserve and develop one of the few nutrient-poor larger lakes in the country as well as two other smaller lakes and their surroundings. It is a habitat for diverse, partly endangered animal and plant communities.
