This house is run by volunteers and is open to visitors. It boasts a unique location, right on the lake.

New shelters were set up at Esrum Lake in 2021. I don't know whether the shelters can be booked on the Naturstyrelsen website. All shelters have a bench in front of them and a fireplace and access to the lake. The Troldanen is located near a large rest area.

There are many rest areas by the lake. This one not only has a pavilion with a barbecue area, but also a bathing jetty and freestanding tables, so there is room for several small groups at the same time.

The name of the house goes back to a big black brow stallion named Fændrik. This horse had its big time when Christian IV (1577-1648) was king. In the immediate vicinity of the house was a Stuterei.
