Unfortunately, the forester's house was no longer open in mid-October around 5 p.m.

At 1,594 meters above sea level, below the Vučjak peak, is the Zavižan Mountain Lodge and the oldest high-altitude meteorological station in Croatia, founded in 1953.

Very nice rest stop. We had (mid-April) delicious bean soup with bread and sausages if you wanted. There was also Turkish coffee and cold drinks.

Occupying a beautiful meadow below the summit slopes of Vučjak, the Zavižan hut makes for a great pit stop when exploring the peaks of the Northern Velebit. It acts as a weather station and is the highest continuously inhabited building in Croatia. The hut enjoys splendid views towards the Adriatic and of the Zavižan basin.

One of the few options for strengthening yourself, staff very friendly. There are drinks and food.

Unfortunately only drinks, no food so nothing at all 😬

July 2023 spontaneous overnight stay. It worked great, including two drinks from the fridge for €20. Host doesn't speak English well, but you can communicate.
