Surrounded by high alpine tranquility and glacial peaks, the turquoise-blue Mattmarksee lies at your feet. This artificial lake is located at over 2,000 meters in the farthest reaches of the Saas Valley. It stores meltwater and supplies the region with renewable energy.

In September 2024, the Almageller stream had a lot of water due to heavy rain. This destroyed both bridges. Even if you can't get to them directly, you can see an impressive spectacle here.

Be careful because the river crossing bridge is removed and replaced every season, without the bridge the crossing can be difficult or impossible if there is too much water. Always ask downstream for information regarding the presence of the bridge.
