The Bettenauer Weiher lies in a depression between Wildberg and Uzwil, entirely within the municipality of Oberuzwil, in the Toggenburg region in the Swiss Alpine foothills. From the path that leads all the way around you have only a limited or sometimes no view of the biotope ponds (due to vegetation), especially on the east side. The other sides are easier to see; the southern viewing platform offers a good overview.

During the season, an enormous number of dragonflies, some of them very large, can be seen. This is the reservoir used to hold the pressure pipe of the power plant located just below. Unfortunately, many of the photos are not of this lake, but rather from somewhere in the gorge.
