Very beautiful mountain lake at 1447 m above sea level, which, like the Sämtiser and Seealpsee, is part of the Alpstein. Ideal for cooling off after a hike. When there is no wind, the mountains are beautifully reflected in the water.

Seealpsee can be reached in about 60 minutes on foot from Wasserauen, the final stop of the Appenzeller Railway, on a partly steep but largely asphalted path. A non-asphalted, slightly longer and slightly less steep hiking trail leads from Wasserauen up over the southeast side of the valley (Hüttentobel) to Seealpsee. There are wonderful views not only along the path to the southwest of the Seealpsee, but also of the sloping meadows on both sides and behind them the rock faces and rocky peaks of the two Alpstein ridges that enclose this great high valley.
