Originally, the farm was called Husbygaard. Between 1350 and 1672 the farm went by the name Iversnæs, after which it was renamed Wedellsborg. In 1672, the county of Wedellsborg was established, and the current owner, Viscount Bendt Wedell, is a direct descendant of the German Wilhelm Friedrich von Wedell, who named the farm more than 300 years ago.
