Close to Jels, the two beautiful Billung Sø lakes are located in such a beautiful nature spot. Here you can camp in the nature, relax enjoying the sounds of many birds or stay for an overnight sleep in a tent.

The ferry is so heavy that we could not move it and we walked around the lake instead.

This beautiful place is only about 2.5 km from the town of Ribe. There are cabins to rent and a small campsite. Very friendly staff and everything you need is there. Very clean sanitary facilities. Showers are charged per minute, electricity is included. There is also a bread roll service 😉. It is easy to walk around the ponds and there are lots of places to sit. The children have also been thought of, as there is a large playground.

The mysterious Seven Lakes get their name from the fact that they are not always there. From ancient times, it has been noticed that the lakes appeared approx. every seven years, or they simply used the magical number 7 for precisely the inexplicable. The facts are that the lakes appear and disappear with the height of the groundwater. And although large amounts of rainfall cause the groundwater level to rise, this does not equate to swelling lakes. The groundwater table has its own "hills and valleys", and therefore the Seven Lakes are very unpredictable. The seven-year lakes were filled with water from 2007 to 2010, and when they reappear, you can experience an incredibly beautiful, open lake landscape in the middle of Frederikshåb Plantage. Even with funny phenomena like a sandy beach on the Jutland heath. The sandy beaches are created when the lakes rise to the open dunes that can always be seen here and there in the area. Even when the lakes are gone, coming here is a special experience. There is a bit of a savannah atmosphere when the former lake surfaces lie like a plain landscape with scattered trees. Jels Søbad is located right on the edge of Jels Nedersø with probably Denmark's most beautiful background for a fresh dip.

If you can, hit your ball there.

You can cross Ferup Sø with this small cable ferry. Pulling a wire rope takes you to the other bank. Since the ferry is a bit heavy, it is best if two or more people pull the rope

Very nice fishing area with cabins. Everything was very well maintained and you can walk around the lakes.
