Birdwatching hut in January 2025 not accessible due to storm damage to the shielding. The hut is closed because it cannot be approached unnoticed. The birdwatching screen on the south side of the Kroonspolder is "open" and a beautiful walk!

May 25, 2024: This is a bird hide and work of art in one. The name of the work is: "Viewing hut for non-existent Birds of the Rottige Meente" by O.C. Hooymeijer. Author of The New Guide to Non-Existant Birds of Europe. In the hut you will find posters with examples of these strange birds, such as the German Heron, the Brown Smoker, the Little Boot and the Field Warbler. Highly recommended to go inside!

The Bocht fan Molkwar is a nature reserve in the Dutch province of Friesland. The Bocht fan Molwar nature reserve is the area outside the dike between Hindeloopen and Molkwerum. The area consists of reed land, poor grassland, some artificial islands off the Frisian coast and the surrounding water.

You are standing on the highest dune in Ameland: the Oerdblinkert. It is part of the Oerder dune complex, a centuries-old group of dunes. At a height of exactly 24 meters you will find pure nature, most of which is maintained by it Fryske Gea in cooperation with the Dutch Road and Water Authority. You mostly let nature take its course. An example is the dynamic formation of dunes: In the event of a storm surge, the North Sea can force a breakthrough in the young dunes on the north side and thus has free play in the areas behind it. This area, which is surrounded by the sea on three sides, is scenically characterized by a beach, old and young dunes, sandbanks, muddy bottom and an extensive, overgrown foreland. Around 60 bird species breed in this eastern tip of the island. During the breeding season and high season, this area is guarded and can only be accessed accompanied by a guide or via the signposted hiking trails.
