Access to Lake O'Hara is strictly controlled to preserve the delicate ecosystem and to offer a better experience for those who do visit the lake. The lottery controlled shuttle bus drops off at the campground and near the Le Relais Shelter for those lucky enough to win a reservation.

You can reach the Whitehorn Campground in the Valley of Thousand Falls after about ten kilometers on the Berg Lake Trail. Stunning view over Savary Island and Vancouver Island. There is a Cabin, a Bear-Box, Picnic Tables and a fire place. Please inform yourself if it is allowed to make a fire. The hut is newly built and offers benches and tables - sheltered from the rain and with a view of the lake.

This little cabin is owned by the Canadian Alpine Club and can be booked. It is supposed to be used as an emergency shelter as well, I found the door closed though. It has a wonderful view.
