Unfortunately, you can't see much of the castle itself. But if you walk around it, you can at least catch a glimpse of some details. You can see more, especially in winter when the leaves have fallen. If you want to see more, you'll have to visit the castle grounds for one of the advertised events with a ticket.

It's beautiful up here. Over the past few years, the castle courtyard has been continuously improved and adapted. In summer, events of the Güssing Cultural Summer take place here on a specially installed open-air stage. With Stipsits, Seidl, Vitasek, and others performing. Fantastic! :)

There are several of these (castle gates). Or rather, passageways. But anyway – they're essential. And they help with the panting climb: Now I'm already at the first one... the second... the third... :)

At the first castle gate, the world is still relatively alright... after that, the path climbs really nicely and your calves will be happy ;) But anyway - the view at the top is definitely worth it.

The Castle Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows is located below the Ancestral Hall at the Güssing Castle ruins, which were built in the 15th century. The castle chapel is accessible from the courtyard. It features a cross-ribbed vault and a late Romanesque portal frame on the west wall. Its original furnishings have not been preserved. The current Neo-Gothic interior was created around 1794. The side altar dates from 1662. Until around 1900, a tower stood next to the chapel, with a spiral staircase leading to the "Knights' Hall." The original access to the castle was via a drawbridge through a gate, which is now walled up.

The castle chapel of the Batthyányi castle of Németújvár is in an old, Gothic building, with simple, white walls, a Gothic stone ribbed vault, and a modest, elegant interior. Outside, the walls are decorated with the death coats of arms of the Batthyány family, inside is the original carved wooden altar. A wooden staircase leads to the tower, unfortunately it was not open to the public.

...it's good as long as it's not covered with concrete inside the castle area!
