2025-07-05: This section of the trail is covered in matchbox-sized wood chips. I've rarely experienced such unpleasant terrain on a gravel bike (45mm tire width). A really good alternative to no-entry signs. Guaranteed, no one will pass through this twice. Unless they're into this particularly painful form of training. ;-)

The well-known area of the Grengspitz*1) is largely subject to nature conservation. Nevertheless, a few easily accessible (bicycle) paths lead to the headland, at the top of which there are fireplaces and a large wooden table with benches that entice you to linger. Some trash cans make it easier to stay organized, just like several Robidog*2). The area is very busy in the warmer seasons and during holidays and vacations, even in the evenings! It was built in 1481 on the site of a previous St. Catherine's Chapel and served as a church for the French-speaking members of the Murten parish. Today it is used by the parish for both German and French-language services. The Friborg Cantonal Church also celebrates ordinations in it when only one pastor is consecrated as Verbi divini minister. The Auried nature reserve is a small vibrant oasis of life. If you close your eyes and focus on listening, you will be surprised what a sonorous place the Auried is. If you keep your eyes open and don't just look into the distance, you will be surprised at how much life there is in the one square meter of earth you are standing on. If you're lucky, you can also see one or the other Scottish highland cattle, with their shaggy fur and wide-spreading horns, standing in the shallow water. A well-maintained schnitzel path leads through the Auried. But there are also wooden footbridge sections that lead the visitor across the water without getting their feet wet. There are observation posts everywhere that allow an intimate insight into the nature reserve.
