Very beautiful lake in Hausen

A wonderful place for a longer rest with plenty of seating and benches with tables, right near the sports field. There is also a children's playground. Swimming is prohibited. There are benches by the small waterfall, where you can cool your feet after a hike when it's warm.

Please don't expect anything wild!

With a drop of almost 4 meters, it is one of the most impressive geotopes in the Rhön, especially in spring after the snow has melted!

Old former quarry. Now a basalt lake.

The Querenbach and the Aschelbach drain the black moor. The Aschelbach crosses under the Hochrhönstraße and after a few hundred meters leads to a ca. 4m high waterfall. If you continue on the hiking trail at the Aschelbach, you come straight to the Eisgraben. This creek sometimes drops up to 10m steeply to the side. In summer it only carries little water, but in winter when the snow melts it can become a raging torrent. In autumn when the sun is shining, it shows itself from its most beautiful side.

Peaceful basalt lake. When the weather is humid and rainy, one can admire a beautiful waterfall.

Unfortunately no waterfall in summer because it is too dry
