The ruins of Hunnesrück Castle are situated on a steep slope atop the Amtsberg hills. Some remnants of the walls are still visible. The deep moats are particularly impressive.

The site of "Everstein Castle on the Castle Hill" was first explicitly mentioned in 1226. According to the findings, however, the Little Everstein was probably built around 1100 as the original ancestral seat of the Counts of Everstein, while the Great Everstein appears to have been added only around 1170.
