Here a small stream flows down the slope and forms a small pond. After rainfall a small waterfall forms.

Access to the gorge has been closed since last autumn. But you can pass it on the left .. no less impressive

Nice little gorge. Unfortunately, only 2/3 of the railing on the left side of the wooden stairs is missing. You have crossed the gorge in 5 minutes, and you can easily integrate it into the Spittelstein circular hiking trail. However, the signs on this route are sometimes poor.

The Sauloch gorge, an interesting and also a little mysterious place, which I only found out about through Komoot. At this point, I would like to thank everyone who shares their discoveries with the rest of us.

The sinter terraces of Weißenbrunn are among the most impressive in northeastern Bavaria. The lime-rich water rises from the Lower Mushenkalk on the border with the Röt. The Birketsbach limestone tuff is in no way inferior to the famous deposits from the Pennickental near Jena and Crailsheim. Here in Weißenbrunn you can see impressive sinter terraces which are among the most impressive in northeastern Bavaria. The geological peculiarity of the formation of this sedimentary rock can be seen and explored in several places. The geological peculiarities of the sintered terraces are rare in the region, fewer than five geotopes of the same type and classified as geoscientific. In our area, these processes are rather rare, much more common, more well-known and also more researched, on the other hand, they are on the edge of the Swabian Alb, the Franconian Alb and in the Alpine foothills. The Birketsbach limestone tuff is in no way inferior to the famous deposits from Pennickental near Jena and Crailsheim. To the west of the village in a small side valley of the Itz, there are two springs with very cold water. The place name already suggests: Weissenbrunn = white fountain.
