There is a beautiful observation hut here at Jasdorfer Lake. You can see the lake and the animals wonderfully. In my opinion, you can't get directly to the lake. This is the only public point where you can get very close to the lake.

A beautiful little place in the Altmark

It's a shame, the log cabin is probably closed permanently. Unfortunately, the observation tower no longer exists. From there you used to have a very nice view of the entire region.

Dahrendorf was first mentioned in documents as Dorendorpe in 1334. It belonged to the Lords of Schwerin until 1334, after which the village belonged to the von dem Knesebeck, which had been abandoned by the von Jagows. Other mentions include 1378 to Dorendorp, 1579 Darndorf, 1585 Dorff Darrndorf, 1687 Darendorff and finally 1804 Dahrendorf. From 1971 to 1990, during the time of the GDR, there was a military location in the southwestern exit of the town on the road to Lagendorf in which border police and border soldiers were housed in a barracks, the “5. Border Company Dahrendorf” in “II. Border Battalion Bonese” in the Northern Border Command of the GDR Border Troops.
