If you think of a building when you think of Zechenhaus, you will be disappointed here, there is a rest area with a spring and tunnel for this.

Also called Hubertusfelsen, with a hunter's house and Hubertusgrotte. Chapel/grotto worked in Hilssandstein. Candles were set up and the engravings and writings gave the whole thing a mystical flair. It is rumored that the grotto was once used for cultic activities. There are two entrances to the grotto; once via a long staircase from the Jägerhaus and on the other via a breakthrough in the chapel wall (barred door).

The hunter's house is currently being renovated. From here you have a great view. In summer with a beer garden, it has to be a hit. A cool blonde and the evening sun, wonderful. Behind the Jägerhaus is the Hubertus Chapel with the Hubertus Grotto. This was open to the public.

A very nice grotto monument with a hunting lodge. The renovation work is already well advanced so that it will soon be fully accessible again.

Beautiful grotto with decorations and small figures carved into the stone. Is currently restored and should be completed in 2022.

Great grotto to marvel at. Here is currently a construction site 🚧 should be finished in spring 2022.

This is a truly magical place. We have not yet managed to get a photo of the probable mystical inhabitants.

I find the name 'Zechenhaus' a bit misleading. This is a very nice resting place with a shelter, bank, spring and the inaccessible mine house tunnel. It already has several break-ins. Oil shale was mined in this area. You can virtually immortalize yourself on the inside of the roof of the shelter, like entering a summit cross. It's a very nice place. In winter (Jan. 2021) 'warm' air came out of the tunnel. Clearly the ambient temperature was around 0 ℃. 😄

Single track, often damp in the summer and flanked by nettles - at least the western half in the forest. The eastern half at the edge of the field is bumpy because there is no 'right' path there. All in all, but with a trekking bike it's quite feasible if you're not worried ...
