The Zechin outdoor pool is one such place, where village community and summer fun meet. Behind the gate with its hand-painted lettering are a lawn, a kiosk, Wi-Fi, and a natural swimming pond that could hardly be more reminiscent of childhood memories. Clouds drift across the sky, the water sparkles, and somewhere an ice cream truck song blares. Brandenburg at its best.

In the Steintoch district, the former royal state domain of Wollup has a history spanning over 500 years. It was here that Frederick II, as Crown Prince, completed his first agricultural and economic studies, and it was here that his particular interest in the Oderbruch region was awakened. In 1852, the German agronomist and agricultural reformer Johann Gottlieb Koppe commissioned the landscape architect Eduard Neide to transform parts of the estate into a landscape park. The overgrown, woodland-like park, as it was during its last intensive development by the landscape architect Eduard Neide, retains open and enclosed areas, modeled on English landscape gardens, divided into lawns, meadows, and denser stands of trees and shrubs. Many old deciduous trees, which characterize the park's landscape, can be seen.

A beautiful park, which one would not have expected. The estate owners were probably very wealthy back then, from which we all benefit today.

Many opportunities for picnics

The outdoor pool is located directly on the L 33 and is the only naturally-fed outdoor pool in the Oderbruch. The pool is equipped with four 50 m lanes, a diving board and a water slide. Moorings, beach chairs, catering and toilet facilities are part of the complex. The area is ideal for school trips as well as tent and camping enthusiasts, as the Oderbruchcamp is located next to the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool season normally lasts from May 1st to September 30th. The entrance fee of €2.00 (children aged 0 to 17 pay €1.00) is, in my opinion, moderate.

The village pond of Friedersdorf (Vierlinden) is located in the center of the municipality and, in contrast to many others, still has a relatively large amount of water. The rectangular shape is unusual, which could suggest that it was used as a water reservoir and extinguishing pond in the past. Today the pond is, among other things, the club waters of the Diedersdorfer Angelverein e.V. On the eastern bank there is a small rest area with two benches.

One of the few bathing spots in the Oderbruch. Family-friendly for young and old.

Very nice and quiet campsite with direct access to the small natural outdoor pool next door (including snack bar), not far from the Oder-Neisse cycle path. The little detour is definitely worth it! ;-)
