Beautiful place on the Wesenitz

To the left of the river is the path now called "Am Bruch," which until 1912 also served as a service road for a sandstone quarry located roughly in the middle of the river. This sandstone quarry had to significantly reduce its production in 1907 because part of it had become a large pond after a blasting operation caused water to seep in. In 1907, there was a minor mishap during a blasting operation. During work in the quarry, a water-bearing layer in the Quellenberg was opened up. Within a short time, the quarry filled up. The abandoned machines still stand on the bottom of the lake today. But that didn't stop the brave guys from back then from continuing to mine sandstone until 1912. The rocks mined here can be seen in many Dresden buildings. Including the "Jesus Christ Church". The nice thing about this little mishap is that we can now look at the beautiful little lake that has formed here.

Even on your second visit to this lake before climbing to the beautiful heights, you immediately feel drawn to the romance of the wonderfully landscaped surroundings. You have to take at least one break from soaking up the atmosphere here.
